The Challenge...

Ballard Clay Bombers received notice on April 6th, 2024 that all trap and skeet shooting
activities at the Ames Izaak Walton League were suspended due to ongoing litigation between
the Ikes and a neighboring landowner. This closure has forced an altered season structure with
limited practice opportunities and extensive travel creating additional costs and burden to our
families for an already expensive sport. It is unlikely the Ames Izaak Walton League shotgun
range will reopen, further emphasizing the uncertainty of the team’s future.

The Opportunity...

The Ballard Clay Bombers have been invited to invest in a new clay target range development
effort just east of Ellsworth, IA...just a short 30 minute drive from Huxley. The Clay Bombers will
call this range home with an initial investment of $50,000 needing to be raised by August
15th. In return, the Clay Bombers will have a long-term commitment with a dedicated day to
practice and a convenient facility to host competitions. Completion of initial field construction is
anticipated for fall of 2024 with plans for future expansion.

The Ask...

The Clay Bombers are celebrating ten years of youth development through the shooting sports
with hundreds of Ballard kids having benefited from the program. Can we count on YOU to
ensure the future for hundreds more?

The Impact...

The proposed range development will secure a local facility for hundreds of youth shooting
athletes from multiple clubs in our community. Over the lifespan of this project we believe
thousands of youth shooters will practice, compete and build memories at this range.
